Saturday's Veterans Parade in downtown Quincy will be televised live on Comcast Channel 15, courtesy of the city of Quincy.

Mayor John Spring said the parade will be televised so homebound residents and those in local nursing homes would be able to watch the event, sponsored by local veterans organizations.

"It's a great public service," Spring said. "I think people will enjoy it."

Spring said the city will telecast the parade using the same TV camera it uses to broadcast City Council meetings each Monday night from City Hall at Eighth and Maine.

The parade starts at 10 a.m. at 12th and Maine and will proceed west to Fifth Street. Spring said the broadcast on Comcast's public access channel will begin shortly after 10 once the parade comes into view of the camera setup at Eighth and Maine.
