The engagement of Rebecca Lynne Johnson and Jacob Wilhelm Scholz has been announced by their parents. She is a daughter of Brian Michael and Suzanne Catherine Johnson of Glen Ellyn. He is a son of Charles William and Rebecca Ann Scholz of 2127 Aldo Blvd.

The bride-elect is a 2000 graduate of Glenbard West High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree in 2004 from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, where she was an English major. She was an Edmund J. James Scholar and an Honors English Scholar. She earned a juris doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2007. Miss Johnson is a staff attorney with the State of Illinois Legislative Reference Bureau in Springfield.

The prospective bridegroom, of 636 Maine, is a 2000 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School and earned a bachelor of arts degree from Culver-Stockton College in Canton, Mo., where he majored in history and political science and graduated summa cum laude in 2004. He was a four-year member of the golf team, two-time NAIA All-American Scholar-Athlete and two-time all-conference honoree. He earned a juris doctor from Northern Illinois University College of Law, graduating cum laude in 2007. Mr. Scholz practices law with his father at the law firm of Scholz and Scholz in downtown Quincy.

The couple will be married Sept. 26 in Glen Ellyn.
