Gilbert and Inez McNeff of Mount Sterling celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary with a family gathering Oct. 18 at the home of their daughter, Gilberta.

Mr. McNeff and the former Inez Maurine Vance were married Oct. 16, 1954, at the home of her sister, Betty and Alvin Perry, in Timewell.

Mrs. McNeff is a daughter of the late Glen & quot;Jim & quot; Vance and Freda Lamma Vance. Mr. McNeff is a son of the late Joseph and Fay Hamilton McNeff.

They are the parents of Gilberta Dorsey of Quincy and Sue Moore and her husband, Frank, of Mount Sterling. They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Mr. McNeff farmed all of his life in the Buckhorn area, and was active in the raising and breeding of standardbred harness horses. He was also a longtime supervisor of Buckhorn Township and served on the Brown County Board for over 20 years, including two terms as chairman.

Mrs. McNeff has been the owner of Inez Beauty Bar in Mount Sterling where she continues to work. She is a former alderman for the City of Mount Sterling and is active in the Mount Sterling United Methodist Church where she is a member. She was also honored as Mount Sterling Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.
