The free Blues in the District concert Friday will feature a Quincy band, the Blue Healers.
Audience members are urged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic to Washington Park at Fifth and Maine for the concert from 5 to 9 p.m.
The Blue Healers is made up of Bill Collins on bass, Ryan McSpadden and Keith Franx on guitars, and Stan Jansen on drums.
Collins has been playing bass since 1993. For 10 years, he played with the Mahoney Brothers. His style stems from his belief that the bass is a percussion instrument. McSpadden has played guitar for more than 20 years, including nine years with the Mahoney Brothers. His playing is tasteful and always delivers a driving energy that brings blues fans to their feet. Jansen brings a wealth of experience, and his playing is straightforward and powerful. Franx also brings keyboard, harmonica and vocals to the Blue Healers' sound.
The corporate sponsors of the concert are TNT and Heimer and Associates. Additional sponsors include Jeff Wiemelt, Inghram & amp; Inghram, Kent and Gigi Adams, Hollister-Whitney, Rokusek Design, Jeanne's Shoppe, Rochelle and Duke Busbey, Burke and Beth Busbey, Bank of Quincy, Awerkamp Machine, Steve Koester of Gray Hunter Stenn, John and Betty Deege, and Ally & amp; Co.
