Kayla Laura Hudson and Fredrick Roy Schachtsiek have announced their engagement. An Aug. 2 wedding is planned in Immanuel Lutheran Church in West Ely, Mo.

The bride-elect is a daughter of Kathy Hudson of Colony, Mo., and the late Larry Hudson. She is a 2004 graduate of Knox County R-1 High School and will graduate in May 2009 from Blessing-Rieman College of Nursing with a bachelor's degree in nursing. Miss Hudson is a nurse intern in the emergency department at Blessing Hospital.

The prospective bridegroom is a son of Lowell and Marcia Schachtsiek of Monroe City, Mo. He is a self-employed farmer.
