A Havana driver apparently fell asleep while driving on U.S. 136 near Carthage and collided with the back of a stopped van at 6:35 a.m. Tuesday.

The Hancock County Sheriff's Department reports a westbound 2005 Chevrolet 1500 truck driven by Warren Miller, 22, collided with the rear of a westbound 2004 Chevrolet van driven by William Mills, 68, of Peoria, which had stopped in traffic while waiting to make a left turn.

There were personal injuries, but police did not indicate if one or both drivers were injured, and additional information was not available by late morning.

Miller was ticketed on a charge of failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
