Granite Bank Gallery will host an art opening titled, "The Way I See It" to introduce the art of Marc Hollembeak. The opening is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and the gallery will host a brief talk by the artist at 6:30 p.m. The opening will have a variety of Hollembeak's original photographic art. The show is scheduled to close Sept. 8.
Hollembeak is an award-winning photographer and Quincy native who lived in Arizona for 16 years. He has recently returned home to continue his work and to be with family.
Hollembeak has had an on-again, off-again love affair with photography since 1972, when he had his first studio specializing in children's portraiture. His interest in black-and-white, sepia and color landscapes became a passion until the late '90s. With the advent of the digital medium, photography has now become an obsession. His primary subjects include still life, landscapes and local architecture, with a specific interest in fine art photography.
"I have been a photographer for over 30 years, but in the last year I have taken it to a new personal level," he said. "I love all things art, but fine photography has its hold on me. It is my wish that those who view my work enjoy it as much as I did creating it."
