Koch - Huls
St. Francis Catholic Church was the setting for the May 24 wedding of Miss Valerie Sue Huls and Curtis Allen Koch, both of Normal.
The bride is a daughter of Lester and Yvonne Huls of 775 N. County Road 1900, Carthage. The bridegroom is a son of Ronald and Katherine Koch of 616 Hamilton Ave.
The bride was given in marriage by her father during the 1 p.m. ceremony conducted by the Rev. Kurt Hartrich, OFM. Vocalists were Cheryl Predmore of Quincy and Kathy Thomas of Kearney, Neb., cousins of the bride. Also participating in the ceremony were Marc Crouch of Peoria, Ariz., brother-in-law of the bridegroom, Kris Koch of Bloomington, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, and Sister Barbara Rose Koch of Macon, Mo., aunt of the bridegroom, readers; Cliff and Yvette Huddleston of Normal and Nancy Huls of Carthage, aunts and uncle of the bride, gift bearers; and Sister Barbara Rose Koch, communion minister.
Matron of honor was Ashley Krieg of Carthage. Bridesmaids were Traci Twaddle and Lindsey Bergmann, both of Carthage; Bethany Stalder of Green Bay, Wis.; and Kimberly Danker of Quincy and Amy Crouch of Peoria, sisters of the bridegroom.
Best man was Nicholas Hiland of Quincy. Groomsmen were Kevin Koch of Bloomington and Adam Koch of Quincy, brothers of the bridegroom; Travis Huls of Carthage, brother of the bride; and Mark Taylor of Chicago and J.D. Summers of Quincy.
Ushers were Andy Douglas and Jason Finney, both of Quincy.
Flower girls were Haylie Danker and Ashlyn Danker, both of Quincy and nieces of the bridegroom. Ring bearers were Brandon Crouch of Peoria and Kyle Koch of Bloomington, nephews of the bridegroom.
A rehearsal dinner was held May 23 in the Patio, hosted by the bridegroom's parents. A reception began at 6 p.m. in the Knights of Columbus Reception Hall.
After a cruise to the Bahamas, the newlyweds are at home in Normal.
The bride is a 2001 graduate of Carthage High School and a 2008 graduate of Drake University with a doctor of pharmacy degree. She has accepted a pharmacist position at Wal-Mart Pharmacy in Pontiac.
The bridegroom is a 2000 graduate of Quincy High School and a 2005 graduate of Western Illinois University with a bachelor's degree in business management. He is a transportation analyst for Caterpillar in Morton.
The bridal couple were honored with showers on March 22, hosted by Carla Crossland, Nancy Huls and Carolyn Icenogle, aunts of the bride; April 20, hosted by Ashley Krieg; and April 26, hosted by Amy Crouch, Kimberly Danker and Kris Koch.
