The parents of Jennifer Powell and Chris Atkinson have announced the engagement of their children.

The bride-elect is a daughter of Herb Murry of Quincy. She is a 1999 graduate of Quincy High School and is employed by Shottenkirk Chevrolet in Quincy.

The prospective bridegroom is a son of David and Teresa Atkinson of Newcastle, England. He is a 1995 graduate of Willington Community High School, a 1999 graduate of Quincy University with a bachelor of science degree in sports management, and a 2001 graduate of Western Illinois University with a master of science degree in recreation administration. Mr. Atkinson is director of parks and recreation for the city of Hannibal, Mo.

A July 12 wedding is planned in Quincy.
