Two goals left for Illini West football team

CARTHAGE, Ill. -- A few blocks south of Fuzz Berges Field on Scofield Street is a large orange sign.

It lists the goals for the Illini West football team and a check next to the ones the Chargers have accomplished.

Conference champions. Check.

Rock Riverton. Check.

Mop Monticello. Check.

Whip Wilmington. Check

The bottom two -- Stomp Stillman Valley and Bring Home the Hardware -- haven't been checked yet.

Illini West can check off another goal today if they beat the Cardinals in a Class 3A semifinal game at 1 p.m. at Stillman Valley.

Except for last year's state championship game at Champaign, it will be the first-ever road playoff game for the ...
